KABE - Advertising Stamps - Durer's Maximilian IThis item is a set of two vignettes, the design of which is taken from Albrecht Durer's 1519 painting of Maximilian I, the Hapsburg Emperor of Austria. These were used by the KABE stamp album manufacturer to promote its bi-collect line of stamp albums with spaces for both mint and used copies of each stamp. The used version of this vignette is the one cancelled with a kiss. The KABE initials at the bottom right corner of each stamp are done in what might be called the style of Durer. Size of each: 40mm x 47mm. Mint never hinged.
